Ahhhhhhh. OK, I only rode in to work and back, but it still was magical. Riding the bike to work changes my entire perspective! I can’t wait to leave on those mornings that I know I’m riding in. And all day I look forward to the trip back home.

Sure, I slab it most of the way to and fro. Sure, I’m fighting my way through traffic in each direction. Sure, the temps were in the 20s yesterday morning and the low 40s on the way home. Didn’t matter! Swinging my leg over the saddle and feeling the rumble of the Suzuki L-twin brought a big grin to my face! Feeling the rush of acceleration, the ease with which I could slice through traffic…it just doesn’t get any better. And…AND…it gets around 45 mpg (despite being a liter bike) which, in these days of relatively high gas prices, is an added bonus.

I’m tired of it. Of them. We’re months away from electing a new president here in the U.S. and already I’m tired of listening to all of the empty promises put forth by the “politicians.” I’ve been tired of them for years now, actually.

Does anyone out there actually believe that any of these folks will do half of what he/she promises? A quarter? A tenth? Any??? They are simply spinmeisters feeding us what they think we want to hear, directed to say things by their handlers. Can the politicians themselves actually believe any of what they try to feed us?

Election after election we hear the same basic things–I’ll create jobs for Americans, I’ll fix Social Security, I’ll remedy the health care crisis in America, I’ll make the world safer for our children, I’ll … ENOUGH ALREADY! Why is the American public so cynical when it comes to politics, politicians, and government? Because we’re tired of the empty promises!

I’m late to the blogging scene.

OK, maybe this isn’t a blog in the traditional sense. Or maybe it is. I haven’t decided where this is going, or even if this is going.

At this point I plan to occasionally “put thoughts to electrons” and we’ll go from there.
